    • The California Natural Resources Agency oversees and supports more than 26 distinct departments, conservancies, and commissions. Our Agency Executive Team leads efforts to steward California’s natural environment and to advance Governor Newsom’s key priorities.

 

 

      • Our Agency is leading efforts to coordinate the first statewide Natural and Working Lands Climate Smart Strategy to drive long-term climate action across key California landscapes. This strategy was called for in Governor Newsom’s nature-based solutions Executive Order intended to accelerate climate smart land management in the coming years and decades.

 

 
      • Governor Newsom advanced Executive Order N-82-20 in October 2020, enlisting California’s vast network of natural and working lands – forests, rangelands, farms, wetlands, coast, deserts and urban greenspaces – in the fight against climate change. A core pillar of Governor Newsom’s climate agenda, these novel approaches will help clean the air and water for communities throughout the state and support California’s unique biodiversity.
